Edit Firefox Custom Dictionary on a Mac
If you, like me, have ever been using Firefox and right clicked on a misspelled word with the hope of correcting it only to accidentally add the word to your dictionary, you may have discovered the frustration to finding a solution that I have.
This is something that gets 682,000 hits on Google... all of which are wrong. Most say the dictionary is in the "Library" folder in "Application Support" and finally "Firefox" folder in a file called persidict.dat....
It's not. Not on this installation of Leopard. So in the hopes that in case someone else out there comes across the same problem...
It's located in the USERS folder. So go to your hard drive root then to the Users folder, then go to your user folder... usually named your user name... THEN go to Library, Application Support, Firefox, Profiles, then locate the gibberish folder name ending in ".default"
in the folder is a file called persidict.dat.. all you have to do is open in Text Edit and add or remove whatever entries you desire.
You're done. That was easy... now if you can just find this in all the other inaccurate listings =)
Happy Hunting.
